Evolution stones are items that can be used to evolve certain Pokémon. They can be found as ore in the world and crafted into storage blocks.

Evolution Stones can be crafted to and from their respective storage block counterparts.

Smelting

Any Evolution Stone Ore can be smelted into a single one of its respective Evolution Stone in either a Furnace or a Blast Furnace.

Natural Generation

Evolution stone ore can be mined to obtain a single evolution stone of their respective type, or multiple with the Fortune enchantment. However, if the Pickaxe used to mine the ore is enchanted with Silk Touch, the ore will need to be smelted or re-mined with a non-Silk Touch pickaxe in order to obtain an evolution stone.

Five of the ten Evolution Stone Blocks have a unique light level associated with them and can be placed down to prevent mob spawns in a small area.

1.4.1	Mining Evolution Stone Ore with a Fortune pickaxe will now increase the amount of Evolution Stones received. Flame Orb recipe added, using the Fire Stone.
1.5.0	Nether Fire Stone Ore has been added, generating in Netherrack. Terracotta Sun Stone Ore has been added, generating in Badlands. Moon Stone ore generates more frequently in Taigas and has been added to Magical and Spooky biomes. Heat Rock, Damp Rock, and Icy Rock recipes added, using the Fire, Water, and Ice Stones respectively.

Charcoal Stick, Mystic Water, Miracle Seed, and Never-Melt Ice recipes no longer use evolution stones.
