A berry tree is a crop that naturally spawns and can be found in certain structures. As of 1.4, they are the only source to get berries.
Berry Farming
There are 4 stages of maturity for berry trees; They will naturally grow more berries over time much like the Sweet Berry in Vanilla Minecraft. Flowers will appear on fully mature berry trees, with time they turn into the plants' berries.
Additionally, there are several types of mulch that can be used on berry plants at stage 0 (before they sprout) to get a variety of effects. The player can use two bonemeal on a berry plant to instantly replenish the berries.
The base 12 berries
Commonly found around your world, these provide a status condition to the battle.
The base 18 Super-effective berries
The 18 super-effective berries have a rare chance to spawn naturally, on occasion certain Pokémon can drop one.
Berry Mutating
If the player wishes to get into more advanced berry farming, they can plant certain berry trees next to each other to get mutated berries. Mutations have a 12% chance to take the spot of a normal berry, if conditions are met. It's important to note that berries you plan to mutate must be next to each other and not diagonal.
