Alpha Pokémon are a special type of Pokémon which rarely spawn throughout the world, visually appearing as a larger than usual Pokémon with glowing red eyes. They act as a roaming boss, having unique, strong abilities and always being a higher level than the player's Pokémon.
Spawning
Alpha Pokémon can spawn randomly throughout the overworld rarely. They will spawn alongside several of their earliest evolution stage, creating a herd which will actively follow the alpha. Naturally spawned alphas will always be at their highest evolution stage.
Pokémon from unnatural sources, such as fossils, fishing and Poké Snacks, instead have a flat 1 in 100 chance to become an alpha Pokémon. Unlike natural alphas, these alphas can be an earlier evolution stage and will not create a herd on spawning.
Features
Level
Upon a player entering a 16 block radius of an alpha Pokémon, if no other player is closer, the alpha will cry and emit wild might particles, before changing its level depending on the player's highest level Pokémon in their party.
| Player Party's Highest Level | Alpha Pokémon's Level |
|---|---|
| <20 | Highest Level + 5 |
| 31-40 | Highest Level + 10 |
| 51-65 | Highest Level + 15 |
| 66+ | Highest Level + 20 (capped at 100) |
Size Variation
Alpha Pokémon are a fixed size depending on the longest hitbox dimension of the Pokémon at 1x size. Within the summary menu, the size of the Pokémon will be uniquely marked as "Alpha". Additionally, the cry of an alpha is pitched down.
| Pokémon's 1x Size | Alpha Pokémon's Size |
|---|---|
| < 0.5 blocks | +85% |
| < 1.5 blocks | +66% |
| < 10 blocks | +50% |
| > 10 blocks | +33% |
Additionally, alpha Pokémon have unique, glowing red eyes. These eyes may be toggled on and off owned alpha Pokémon via the alpha's Mark.
Behaviour
Wild Alpha Pokémon will always attempt to defend themselves in the wild. If attacked, the alpha Pokémon will defend itself, attacking the attacking player.
Battle Boost
Upon beginning a battle with an alpha Pokémon, they will be granted a number of random stat boosts depending on their level. The number of boosts granted will be 1 guaranteed, followed by 1 for every 10 levels of the alpha Pokémon.
TM Moveset
Alpha Pokémon will always spawn with two TM move in its moveset. This TM move will always be a TM in which the Pokémon can learn.
Defeating
Upon defeating an alpha Pokémon, the player will rewarded with Exp. Candy and, depending on the level, will also drop IV Candy. An advancement for defeating your first alpha Pokémon will also be rewarded if one has not yet been defeated.
