The Deepslate Crystal Core is the central block of a Type Gem crystal formation. It grows attached Type Gems into Type Gem Clusters, which eventually mature into Type Gem Blocks.
Natural Generation
Deepslate Crystal Cores generate as part of underground Type Gem crystal formations naturally found in air-exposed Deepslate caves throughout the Overworld.
Propagation
The Deepslate Crystal Core periodically grows attached Type Gems into Type Gem Buds, which mature into Type Gem Clusters before blossoming into new Type Gem Blocks which produce their own buds, repeating the cycle.
A single core can support up to 7 connected Type Gem Blocks. Once this limit is reached, clusters will no longer blossom into new blocks until an existing block is mined.

Mining
Deepslate Crystal Cores can be mined using an Iron Pickaxe or better.
Unlike most naturally generated growth blocks, the core drops itself when mined, allowing it to be collected and placed elsewhere.
